california trip 2007

we've been back for a few weeks, but since we didn't have our blog yet and nothing super exciting is happening right now, we thought we'd share. each year, al's family goes to newport coast for a little fun in the sun. (i just had a funny typo; instead of sun i typed sin. there was no sinning going on, i promise.) we were able to make it for a whole week, and had a great time. we went to the beach for a few days, and evie got a big kick out of that. she is at a fun age to do things like that; old enough to play in the sand without eating it, but young enough to be easily entertained. al and i got tickets to wicked for our birthday from cami & craig (al's parents), and that was probably the best performance of anything we have ever seen. we are still singing the songs all the time. we would highly recommend this to anyone. we also did the whole disneyland thing, which we had saved up for. we decided now would be a good time to go since evie knows all the characters, but still gets in free. al invited her parents, but craig decided to sponsor our trip instead of go with us. he said he would rather pay for it than actually go be with the crowds. he drives a hard bargain, but we couldn't turn down the offer. thanks craig. it turned out to be a great day. evie handled everything well and we even took her on thunder mountain railroad (i know it's not very scary, but she's not even three). evie loved it, and the workers looked at us like we were abusive parents. the best part about the day was that we didn't have an agenda, and everything just worked out the way we wanted it to. on our way back to utah we stopped in vegas to visit my sister jess and her family. we also visited some good friends, rob & amanda finlinson, who we haven't seen in awhile. it was great catching up with them. evie had a great time with her cousin luke. it was hard coming home to reality, but we knew the fun couldn't last forever. it was definitely a much needed vacation and it came at the perfect time.
