Evie's 3rd Birthday

my parents (craig and cami webb from AZ) were in town the week before evie's birthday, so we went to Red Robin for a birthday lunch. after we ate, i told the waiter that it was her birthday and he brought out an enormous piece of chocolate-peanut butter-cookie ice cream cake. oh my goodness, it was so so good. evie was in heaven, and it easily satisified all 5 of us. so a word to the wise, Red Robin is the place to be at birthday time!.....oh, and we had so much fun hanging out with my parents. they're definitely some of evie's biggest fans and wish they could see her more than a few times a year....Greg and I too, right?

this was evie's birthday cake masterpiece! i love making birthday cakes, but evie doesn't really like cake--just cupcakes. i've tried to explain on many occasions that a cupcake is the same--just smaller and cuter, but no luck. so i decided that since it was her big day, i should probably go with what she wanted, but it still had to have the essence of a cake to make all of us (well, me) happy, so here it is! i thought it actually turned out really cute and it was a lot easier and less time-consuming, so hooray for cupcakes!

i sat evie down on a chair next to her cake and right before we started to sing and blow out candles, i turned around and saw evie diving into a cupcake. she's a girl that knows what she wants and will play the birthday card to the max. i kind of said "what are you doing" and she looked at me like "my day, my timeline...i'll eat my cupcakes when i'm good and ready!" and that's what she did! we did manage, however, to get her to blow out her candles between bites!

Cute sign, courtesy of daddy. And the happy family of 3 on the 3rd birthday...tender!

Grandpa Cottrell, Cousin Camden, and Evie--we were lucky enough to have Amy and Camden in town from Ohio for Evie's birthday. we'd like to think they came all the way to Utah for us, but Amy's sister actually got married in American Fork a few days later. We had so much fun with them and wish they lived closer.

Happy be-lated Birthday EvieJane!! I still remember when . . .

I too think time goes much much too quickly . . . but so far all these phases of growing have been so fun. (Well, like 90% of the time right?)
