"Happy Cry"

Tonight we decided to take Evie to see Rat-u-tooooo-eeeee (I don't know how to spell it, so I went with phonics). If you haven't seen it, you should--cute flick. Anyway, there's a part at the end (I'm not giving it away :)) when the rat family helps each other out and then goes their separate ways. Well, after the movie, as we were driving home, Evie said, "I think I just need to happy cry for those rats...I'm just going to happy cry." I guess maybe I've cried when I was happy or we've seen it on TV, but I didn't think Evie really understood the meaning. However, the splitting of the rat family was a bittersweet experience for all those involved, so I agree with Evie, it was a time for happy tears...happy for each other and happy for the memories.---Now, if this concept was too deep for you, don't worry. I'll bet you've happy-cried before. For example, if you've had a baby and you go through the first night at home completely confused with overwhelming feelings of inadequacy with a baby that seems to never stop crying...and then your mom comes the next day...that may be an appropriate time for a happy cry (and it was for me). Or maybe on your wedding day...happy cry. Or when your child says something sweet or church-knowledgy...happy cry. Or when gap has their yearly sale...happy cry. -------------So anyway, I obviously could go on and on with examples, but you probably get the gist. It's a fact...crying is not just for sadness anymore! (Please share your "happy crying" experiences!)

Oh my gosh--I'm so happy you're blogging! I miss my Manila friends immensely and I'm so glad to be able to keep in touch easier!
Also, your baby is SO not a baby anymore! How on the earth did she get to be such and big girl, and so beautiful?
Anyway, I'll link you and we'll be in touch! Thanks for hunting me down!

Hilarious, seriously. You guys are one of the only blogs that I actually laugh "out loud" at...not just laugh in my head.

I just saw the movie and I can understand why you would need happy tears. Totally grossed me out when the rats cooked dinner, but still very good flick
