BYU Homecoming Weekend

So, I (Allyson) have lived in Provo since Fall of 2000 and Greg has lived here since Spring of 2003 and this is only the 2nd time we have been to the Homecoming parade and the 3rd time we've gone to the Homecoming Spectacular; I went to one homecoming dance (not with Greg...while he was on his mission), and I think I have been to 2 of the Homecoming football games and Greg hasn't been to any. Since we know that we will be living here for awhile now, we've decided to get more involved in the BYU stuff. We've got to have some pride in something around here!
Anyway, here are some photos of the parade. We went with our friends, the Hancocks: Than, Erika, Payson, and Camry. Than was in Greg's program at BYU and their son Payson is about Evie's age. We had a lot of fun with them! The parade wasn't unblelievable, but it was fun to be out on a chilly fall morning . Plus, we got the typical BYU experience we were looking for, inluding some awkward swing dancers dancing in the line waiting for blue pancakes, a bunch of white kids wearing "honor code club" t-shirts attempting some hip-hop dancing, and the male folk dancer with the puffy shirt doing some crazy shimmies at the tail-end of his group. It was all very entertaining. If you attended BYU, you know exactly what I'm talking about! Anyway, after the parade, the Hancocks invited us to their tail-gate BBQ. We actually weren't even going to the game, but it was still fun to barbeque off the back of a truck and eat chips and cookies in a lawn chair. They did go to the game and we sent our support for the good old Cougs...I guess it paid off with their big win!

Evie with the BYU marching band

Evie and Payson with their balloons and Brick Oven Pizza coupons, also sporting their BYU shirts (Greg and Camry coming up on the side)

The fam at the parade--notice the "Y" on the mountain behind us--my idea!

Love the pictures and it sounded like you had a great time! Brings back memories from last year. I wish we could have done it again.

Way to keep the BYU spirit up! We are still too big of fans it is probably silly. . . I am sure Evie had fun at the parade even if it was a total BYU style one. it did bring back memories for me too! I have two brothers there right now and I especially love calls from the one that is a true premie freshman and all the fun he is having. Wouldn't take those years back for anything! (even though we started at Ricks . . . which I wouldn't change for anything either!)
